Mrs. Ann “Rita” Colbert Wood, age 66, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at her home. She was born September 5, 1952 in Surry County to Samuel Wade and Grace Dean McCann Colbert.

Mrs. Wood was a member of Knobbs Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: her husband Grady Wood of the home; son, Joey Wood and wife Amy of Elkin; daughter, Julie Mitchell of Elkin; three brothers Sammy Colbert of Union Grove, Jessie Colbert of Harmony, Jimmy Colbert of Harmony; three sisters Becky Mathis of Elkin, Elaine Jolly and husband Barry of Traphill, Diane Terry of Yadkinville; four grandchildren, Kacie Wood of Elkin, Gabriel Wood of Elkin, Madison Mitchell of Elkin, Briana Cox of Deep Gap; three great grandchildren, Riley Wood, Easton Ashley, and Cassidee Billings.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Hugger, Rev. Ken Boaz, and Rev. Justin Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Brenner’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box 571021, Winston-Salem, NC 27157 or Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home, PO Box 2777, North Wilkesboro, NC 27157.
