Imagene Crouse Chappell

Mrs. ImaGene Crouse Chappell, age 91, of State Road passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Chappell was born February 2, 1927 in Surry County to George and Pearl Andrews Crouse.

Mrs. Chappell was a member of Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church. She retired with 42 years of service from Chatham Manufacturing and was a member of the Lucy Haynes Chatham Club.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Chappell; sisters Ruby Edwards, Mabel Hash; brothers, Tam Crouse, Cecil Crouse, Woodrow Crouse, Raymond Crouse, and Mahlon Crouse.

Survivors include: son, Jimmy Chappell and wife Kendrea of State Road; daughter, Sandra Wood and husband James of State Road; grandchildren, Chandler Chappell, Cayce Chappell, Clint Swartz, Angela Wood; and great grandson, Austin Wood.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Lynn Crouse and Rev. Roger Hensley officiating. Due to inclement weather a private family burial will follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
