Norma Sue Goodman

Mrs. Norma Sue Hayes Eldridge Goodman, age 87, of Sparta passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born February 2, 1931 in Surry County to Alfred “Rell” and Lena Ray Hayes.

Mrs. Goodman was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elkin and a former choir member. She worked at Dr. Harrell’s office for many years and retired from Chatham Manufacturing.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Eldridge; second husband, Wilborn Goodman; and brother-in-law, Rex Cockerham.

Survivors include: her son, Jeff Eldridge and wife Lesa of Thurmond; sister, Emaline Cockerham of Elkin; granddaughter, Jessica Rae Eldridge; and niece Darlena Goodwin and husband Alan of Cornelius.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Elkin with Rev. Keith Wood and Rev. Mike Shuford officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
