Mrs. Lynn Blackburn, born January 18th, 1962, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday afternoon, January 1, 2019.
Just as she loved Christ, Lynn adored her family. Married for 38 amazing years to Michael, her best friend, she sought a place by his side that brought honor to him and their marriage. Her heart was devoted to raising her two sons, Ryan and Eric. She could imagine no greater and fulfilling occupation than raising up her boys for God. She taught them by her exemplary life of joy, love, and faith in action. They, in turn, blessed Lynn’s life to the fullest by making her the best “Mimi” to 3 precious grandchildren. She entrusted to God her children, her marriage, and her ministry.
Lynn testified to the grace and glory of Jesus Christ in every facet of her life. Many knew Lynn as their Mary Kay consultant. She used this as her avenue to serve, encourage, nurture and foster relationships with women who needed Jesus. Currently a member at Horizon Church, Lynn was always excited to serve. Lynn loved church and joyfully ministered to numerous children for 25 years as a Youth leader at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Lynn was known for ease of conversation. This gift, along with a contagious smile, and entertaining sense of humor, won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by the witness of her constant nurturing love and unwavering faith. Lynn always put into practice the words of Jesus, “whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant” Matt 20:26. Lynn knew her life was more than cleaning, for her greatest ambition was the salvation of others and their eternal souls. She just recently shared this message to many participants at her nephew’s memorial race, “Race More for Macemore”. Today, she would want to know that you truly know Jesus!
Left to carry on the salvation message are her faithful and loving husband, Michael Blackburn; her determined, hardworking and eldest son, Ryan Blackburn; Ryan’s wife and nurturing care-giver, Emily Blackburn; Her laid back, loving youngest son, Eric Blackburn; Eric’s wife and devoted daughter-n-law, Lindsey Blackburn; Her loving mother and prayer warrior, Wanda Macemore; sweet grand-daughter, Riley Blackburn; smiley grand-son, Luke Blackburn; and precious granddaughter, Chloe Blackburn; Mother-in-law, Sue Blackburn; sister-in law, Teena Macemore; brother-in law, Darryl Blackburn (Cheryl); sister-in-law, Sonya Jones (Greg); along with many very special nieces and nephews. Today Lynn is rejoicing in heaven with her brother, Wayne Macemore; her nephew, Austin Macemore; Her father, Harold Macemore; and Father-in-law, Lowell Blackburn.
A service to celebrate this precious life of Lynn will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Jamie Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday evening, January 4, 2019, at Elkin Funeral Service.
