Jesse Rufus Mitchell

Mr. Jesse Rufus Mitchell, age 74, passed away Friday December 7, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Mr. Mitchell was born November 5, 1944 in Giles County, TN to James Marion Francis Mitchell and Katie Lou Brooks Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell retired from NC Department of Corrections.  In addition to his parents Jesse was preceded in death by four sisters, Mamie Lou Sanderson, Leona Beddingfield, Martha Christine Rose, Ruby Jane Hopper and four brothers, Andrew Jackson “Jack” Mitchell, Otis B. Mitchell, James Marion “Junebug” Mitchell, William “Roy” Mitchell.

Survivors include: two sons, Wesley David Mitchell, Andrew Daniel Mitchell, a daughter and son in law, Brandi Kay Mitchell Carter and husband David “Richard”, a brother, Joe Daniel Mitchell, a grandson, David “Colt” Carter, a step-granddaughter, Ashley Nichole Carter, two step great-grandchildren, Hazel Grace Wood, Addeigh Rae Wood. A special friend, Kay Tucker Mitchell.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 2pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel.  Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 12-2pm prior to the service.
