Charlie Evans

Mr. Charlie “Shorty” Frank Evans, age 81, of State Road passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born March 20, 1937 in Yadkin County to Elzie Robert and Ada Roberts Evans.

Shorty was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and retired from G&B Oil. He was a Veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Jay Robert Evans.

Survivors include: wife, Judy B. Evans of the home; son, Sammy Lynn Evans and wife Sherry Byrd of State Road; daughter, Tammy Jo Simmons of Charlotte; sisters, Sally Evans Hayes and husband Sid of Elkin, four grandchildren, Chase Simmons, Rhyne Simmons, Nickie Adams, Lakin Evans; and eight great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Attaway officiating.
