Betty Cudd

Mrs. Betty Jean Cudd, age 76, of Elkin passed away Monday, December 03, 2018 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital from non-alcoholic cirrhosis. She was born June 9, 1942 in Surry County to Preston and Hazel Settle Byrd.

Mrs. Cudd attended Marler Road Baptist Church when she was able.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Cudd; son, Dr. Keith Cudd; and daughter, Kristie Mahan.

Survivors include: daughter, Kelly Thompson and husband, Jimmy of Elkin; son-in-law, Glenn Mahan; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Cudd; brothers Jerry Byrd and wife Wan of Mt. Airy, David Byrd of Statesville, Bobby Byrd and wife Alice of Fries, VA; sister, Dorothy Shermer of Hamptonville; two grandchildren, Nicole Tait, Cameron Cudd; five great grandchildren, Nathan Tait, Nixon Tait, Paisley Cudd, Kinsley Cudd, Brylee Cudd.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Nick Tait officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Elkin Funeral Service.
