Richard Allen Nance

Mr. Richard Allen Nance, age 74, of Jonesville passed away at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville.  Richard was born August 16, 1944 in Surry County to Thurman Allen and Edith Elizabeth Taylor Nance.

Mr. Nance was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. Richard attended N.C. State University where he studied electrical engineering and retired from Brown Williamson Tobacco Company in Winston - Salem and also L.P. Corporation in Roaring River. Mr. Nance was also the author of five published books and a member of the Library of Congress.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Robertson

Survivors include: his wife of 47 years, Zella B. Nance of the home; daughters, Debbie Garner and husband Todd of State Road, Dana Walker and husband Mark of Jonesville, Kelly Bowman and husband Kevin of Moravian Falls, Robin Brown and husband Steve of Hamptonville, Rhonda Roth and Chris Parr of Winston – Salem; sisters, Joanne Dudley of Jonesville, Faye Buie and husband David of Jonesville, Christeen Ashley and husband Roy of Jonesville; brother-in-law. Zeke Robertson of Jonesville; grandchildren, Carson Brown, Peyton Brown, Jackson Brown, Cameron Roth; and several special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Mitch Smith, Rev. Jason Lawson, and Rev. Tim Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
