Mary Estelle Freeman, age 93, of McLeansville passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC surrounded by her loving family. She was reunited with her husband and love of her life for 71 years, William Harold Freeman as she entered her heavenly home. Mary and Harold were married May 12, 1946.
Estelle was born February 21, 1925 in Wilkes County to John Wesley and Mattie Mae Carter. She loved talking about her happy memories of growing up on a farm with her parents and siblings.
She was an active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC and a member of the Reid Bible Sunday School class. She served her Church faithfully and loyally. Estelle was a member of the Pansy Garden Club and the Gate City Shrine #2 of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She also worked 30 years in a clerical position for Sear’s mail-order. After retirement she enjoyed working at the polls during election. She loved laughter and her keen sense of humor brought pleasure to her friends and family.
Estelle loved to shop and decorate her home, and cook delicious meals for family and friends, She and Harold spent happy and fulfilling days traveling the country, visiting their children and grandchildren. Her joy for living and being with others will live on in her surviving family and friends forever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold, a son William Charles Freeman. Sisters; Leona Davis, Beulah Carter, Nell Thompson and Anna Collins, and a brother Herman Carter.
Survivors include: her daughter Amy Freeman Parker and husband Jim of Indian Trail NC; daughter–in-law, Danna Freeman of Raleigh NC; Grandchildren, Jennifer and Zach Jackson of Waxhaw NC, Daniel Freeman of Raleigh, Jacob Parker of Matthews, NC, and Marianna Parker of Hendersonville, NC; Great-grandchildren, Parker and Cooper Jackson.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 2:00pm at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin, with Reverend Andrew Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 1:00-2:00 at Elkin Funeral Service.
