Lester Ray Shores

Mr. Lester Ray Shores, age 82, of Thurmond passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home. He was born November 11, 1935 in Surry County to Boyd Alton and Ruby Viola Hayes Shores.

Mr. Shores was a faithful lifelong member of Charity Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of the church choir. He retired from the North Carolina Division of Prisons in Yadkinville where he served as a guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Shores.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Hattie Long Shores of the home; sons, Timothy Wayne Shores and wife Isabell of Thurmond, Lester Paul Shores and wife Ginger of Thurmond, Gregory Steven Shores and wife Angela of Thurmond; sister, Juanita Harrison and husband John of State Road; 8 grandchildren, Shannon Michelle Brown, Jennifer Leigh Burton, Andrew Shores, Emily Vena Akers and husband Mark, Nathan Paul Shores and wife Tracy, Daniel Shores and wife Leah, Tara Quesinberry and husband Corey, Dana Marie Collins; 9 great- grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Charity Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Cardwell, Brother Paul Shores, and Rev. Daniel Shores officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Charity Hill Baptist Church.
