Jack Arlen Smith, Sr.

Mr. Jack Arlen Smith, Sr., age 87, of Elkin passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Smith was born March 15, 1931 in Guilford County to Banks Webster and Mary Hilton Smith.

Mr. Smith was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church and the Elkin Lions Club. He coached little league baseball for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Smith; two sons, Terry Dean Smith and Bryan Keith Smith.

Survivors include: son, Jack A. Smith, Jr. and wife Becky of Garner; daughter, Alisa “Missy” Shaffer and husband Joe of Elkin; brother, Harold Dean Smith and wife Shelby of High Point; three grandchildren, Emily Smith, Meagan Shaffer and husband Dillon Wood, Joey Shaffer and wife Madison; three great grandchildren; Camden Smith Wood, Kinsley Maryn Wood, and Christian Alexander Shaffer.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Blevins officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.
