Richard Garvey Burchette

Mr. Richard “Garvey” Burchette, age 77, of Elkin passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born December 7, 1940 in Surry County to Johnny and Martha Wagoner Burchette.

Mr. Burchette was a veteran of the Unite States Army National Guard and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He retired from Royster Clark in Yadkinville.

In addition to his parents Mr. Burchette was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Luffman and grandson, Nicholas McGuire.

Survivors include: his wife Kay Jenkins Burchette of the home; three sons, Richard A. Burchette and wife Lisa of Elkin, Joey A. Burchette of Elkin, Michael A. Burchette and wife Starr of Easley, S.C.; one daughter, Elizabeth K. Burnett and husband Gary of Dobson, sister, Gerry Miller of Pfafftown; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds and Dr. Gary Byrd officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346 will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
