Luther Keith Byrd

Mr. Luther Keith Byrd, age 70, passed away September 6, 2018 at his residence.  Mr. Byrd was born March 3, 1948 in Surry County to Luther Martin and Elizabeth “Libby” Burchette Byrd.

Mr. Byrd was a member of Ronda First Baptist Church.  He attended UNC Chapel Hill and was an avid softball and Tarheel fan.

Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include: daughter, Laura B. Nixon and husband David of Jonesville; brother, Kevin Byrd of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Kay Poindexter and husband Jim of Dobson; grandchildren, Logan Nixon and wife Sierra; Dawson Nixon, and Cole Nixon; and nephew, Casey Wilmoth and wife Jena.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Mike Hall officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
