Ezra Byrd

Mr. Ezra Mack Byrd, Sr., age 90, of Ronda passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Rose Glen Manor in North Wilkesboro. He was born March 30, 1928 in Wilkes County to H. Eugene and Willie Agnes Blackburn Byrd.

Mr. Byrd was a member of Little Elkin Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing. He was a gifted carpenter, furniture maker, and avid gardener. He died with a heart full of love for everyone.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Kathleen Adams, Shelby Neely; brothers, Larry Byrd, Roy Byrd; and granddaughter, Bethany Byrd.

Survivors include: His loving wife of 72 years, Pansy L. Byrd; sons, Ezra Mack Byrd, Jr and wife Anna of Gatesville, TX, Bradford Eugene Byrd and wife Rita of Ronda, Arvil Ray Byrd of Ronda, David Ransom Byrd and wife Wanda of Elkin; daughter, Penny Byrd Grit and husband Kevin of Roaring River; 21 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Elkin Baptist Church with Rev. David Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
