Edith Sprinkle Nelson

Mrs. Edith Sprinkle Nelson, age 96, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Pruitt Health of Elkin.  Mrs. Nelson was born April 22, 1922, in Wilkes County to Shirley and Dossie Sebastian Gentry.  She was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church and was retired from Chatham Manufacturing. She was a loving wife and 5th generation matriarch and avid quilter and cook.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Sprinkle, and second husband, Ted Nelson; son, Larry Sprinkle; daughter, Brenda Crabb; brothers, Ancil Gentry, Stancil Gentry, Pervis Gentry, Charlie “C.C.” Gentry, Spurgeon Gentry, and Martin Gentry and sisters, infant baby girl and Hannas Byrd.

Survivors include: son, Mack Sprinkle and his wife Tina of N. Wilkesboro; sister, Velna Tilley of Elkin; grandchildren, Randy Crabb and his wife Mandy, Michele Russell and her husband Lewis and Chad Sprinkle and his wife Susan; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and several step-children, step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 30, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Level Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Wood and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
