James R Bell

Mr. Jim Roy Bell, age 81, of Thurmond passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Avante at Wilkesboro. He was born in Alleghany County on August 6, 1936 to W.P. and Effie Poe Bell.

Mr. Bell was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, a farmer, and the former owner operator of Bell Lumber Company.

In addition to his parents Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Bell; brother, John Bell; and sister, Carrie Jones.

Survivors include: son Michael Bell and wife Melinda of Thurmond; granddaughter, Kayla Bell of Thurmond; nephews, Mack Jones and wife Donna of Thurmond, Butch Jones and wife JoAnn of State Road; niece, JoAnn Newman of Highpoint; and several great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Reverend Kenny Wood and Reverend Phil Simmons officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 14, 2018 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
