Mary Spicer

Mary Lee Wagoner Mathis Spicer, age 87, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Pruitt Health of Elkin. She was born January 27, 1931 in Wilkes County to Noah Gordon and Nancy Ann Absher Wagoner.

Mrs. Spicer was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church and retired from Lucia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Thomas Mathis; brothers, Ted, Franklin Dee, Terry, Ray, Junior, Harvey, Daniel, and Jerry; and sister, Betty Sue Stricklin.

Survivors include: husband, Ray Von Spicer of the home; sons, Steven Thomas Mathis of Ronda, Noah Kevin Mathis and his wife Jennifer of Monroe, NC; Greg Spicer of Wilkesboro, Randy Spicer and his wife Barbara of South Dakota, Dexter Spicer of Hamptonville, NC, Philip Spicer and his wife Debbie of Ronda; daughters, Angela Mathis Goodman Doub of Ronda, Abigail Watkins and her husband Tim of Lawsonville, Penny Castevens and her husband Kent of Hamptonville; brother, Gary Wagoner and his wife Barbara of Roaring River; sisters, Linda Bauguess and Gaye Bauguess both of Traphill; grandchildren, Alana, Lydia, Jami, Ann Marie, Tera Lynn, James, Stacey; 10 step grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and four step great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Level Baptist Church in Roaring River with Rev. James Hall and Rev. Keith Wood officiating. Burial will following the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
