Winfrey Caudill

James Winfrey Caudill, age 84, of State Road passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home. He was born November 7, 1933 in Wilkes County to Earlie H. and Mohea Tucker Caudill.

Winfrey was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for over 60 years. He was a leader with Boy Scout Troop 686 for 20 years. Since 1950, Winfrey had played in multiple Bluegrass and Gospel Bands.

Winfrey was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Shepherd Caudill of the home; sons, Craig S. Caudill and Kevin S. Caudill; brothers, David R. Caudill and wife Peggy, Teddy W. Caudill and wife Sybil; sister, Maevonne Cheek; two grandsons, Steven Caudill and Adam Caudill; and special aunt, Katherine Poindexter.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Mitch Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00- 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
