Marie C. Swaim

Zilla Marie Casey Swaim, age 99, of Elkin passed away on May 19, 2018 at Pruitt Health. Mrs. Swaim was born on June 28, 1918 in Surry County to John Young and Zillie Tucker Casey.

Marie was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church where she was a nursery worker and Sunday school teacher for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vern Swaim; two daughters, Vicki Howard and Edith Marie Swaim; nine brothers and sisters; and grandson, Eddie Hall.

Survivors include: sons, Tommy Swaim and wife Libby of Elkin, Wade Swaim and wife Jane of Ronda, Raymond Swaim and wife Daphne of East Bend; daughter, Dottie Hall of Jonesville; brother-in-law, Allen Howard of Jonesville; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and two great-great children.

A funeral service with be conducted Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Wesley Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00- 4:00pm prior to the service at the church.
