Eddie Hampton

Mr. Eddie Vernon Hampton, age 63, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.  Mr. Hampton was born February 10, 1955 in Surry County to Henry E. and Shirley Combs Hampton.

Eddie was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and retired from Carl Rose & Son after 19 years of service.  He was also the owner of Hampton Farms where he was a dedicated chicken and cattle farmer for over 50 plus years.  Eddie later became co-owner of Hampton Farms with his son Nicholas Hampton in 2014.  He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather and he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandsons and vacationing at the beach.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Gray Hampton.

Survivors include: his wife of 39 years, Darlene Hunter Hampton of the home; son, Nicholas Vernon Hampton and wife Danyelle of Elkin; daughter, Bridget Hampton Crump of Elkin; sister, Diane Swaim and husband Buster of Elkin,  brothers,  Dale Rose and wife Lynn, Brent Hunter and wife Leshia, David Chambers; grandchildren, Daniel Vernon Hampton and Benjamin Cole Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Fugate and Rev. Roger Hensley officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
