Marshall Lewis Campbell

November 21, 1927 — March 20, 2018

Mr. Marshall L. Campbell, age 90, of Elkin, NC passed away on March 20, 2018 at his home.  Mr. Campbell was born in Anderson County, SC on November 21, 1927 to Alfred Newton Campbell and Mary Pearl Parker Campbell.  After serving in the US Army in Korea, he graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  He retired from Duke Energy in 1986.

Marshall was a member of First Baptist Church of Elkin.  He enjoyed working at his church and piloting his airplane.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Campbell Brown; half-sister, Elise Campbell Osteen and son-in-law, Ron Humphrey.

Marshall is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sarah Jones Campbell; three daughters, Frances Weavil and husband Mike, Louise Ipock and husband John and Shirley Humphrey; grandchildren, Clay E. Ipock, Anne Allen and husband David, Evan Humphrey, Hunter Weavil, Hannah Humphrey; and great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Allen.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Rev. Larry Jones and Dr. Bill Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Elkin, 110 Gwyn Avenue, Elkin, NC 28621, Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
