Mr. Anthony “Tony” Price Wampler, age 71, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Wampler was born March 26, 1946 in Sullivan County, Tennessee to Roy E. Wampler, Jr. and Lola Price Wampler.
Mr. Wampler was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and retired from Eastman Chemical Company and previously worked with Holston Defense and as a coal miner. Mr. Wampler was an avid bowler and earned the Eastman Bowler of the Year in 2004. He was on the board of directors for the Kingsport Bowling Association and attended East Tennessee State University.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wampler was preceded in death by his brother, Roy E. Wampler, III.
Survivors include: his wife, Debbie Maines Wampler of the home; daughter, Annette Norman of Lexington, KY; step-sons, Wayne Gentry, Jr. of Wilmington and Dustin Gentry and wife Monica of Elkin; mother and father-in-law, Roger and Marion Maines of State Road; brother, Michael Wampler and wife Eva of Kingsport, TN; sister-in-law, Teresa Maines of Hickory; granddaughter, Lindsay Norman of Lexington, KY; step-granddaughters, Madison Gentry of Elkin and Emma Gentry of Elkin; nieces, Lucia Thomas, Tamara Wampler; great niece, Justyna Thomas and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. John Attaway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Dr. Vybrial and Dr. Meadows for the care shown to Mr. Wampler.
