Peggy Collins

Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” Collins, age 89, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at her residence.  Mrs. Collins was born May 20, 1928 in Forsyth County to James Edgar and Margaret Edibel Doss Medley.

Mrs. Collins was a devout Christian and a loving wife, mother and Granny.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her husband, Foy Austin Collins, Sr.; daughters, Shirley Collins and Sherry Childress; son, Foy Austin “Buddy” Collins, Jr. and three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include: son, Billy Joe Collins; daughters, Lydia Hawkins and Lois Hudspeth; brother, James “Bud” Medley; sisters, Rosie Weaver and husband Dale, Sadie Bauguess and husband Duffy and Elizabeth “Lit” Youngquist and husband Tex; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Adam Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 – 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the love and care shown to Peggy during her illness.
