James A. Gentry

Mr. James A. Gentry, age 76, passed away Friday January 5, 2018 at Chatham Nursing & Rehab Center in Elkin. Mr. Gentry was born April 30, 1941 in Surry County to Quincey and Bernice Luffman Gentry.

James retired from East Coast Mill Works and was a member of Calvary Wesleyan Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by a brother Jonah Gentry.

Survivors include: his wife Barbara McCauley Gentry of the home; Step-sons, Keith Cox, and David Cox both of Elkin; Step-daughters, Teresa Cox of Elkin and Wilma Long and husband Larry of Boonville; a brother Jerry Gentry of Elkin, a sister Becky Royal of State Road; Grandchildren, Kimberly Durkin and husband Billy, Andrea Nance and Husband Jamie, Thomas Cox and wife Kimberly, Brian Cox and wife Tracy, Adam Cox, Brandon Cox and wife Ashley, Levi Long, Larry Long, Jr. Joseph Long; and eight Great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Wesleyan Church with Rev. Stanley Stogner officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Level Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 1:00-3:00-p.m. at the church.
