Mrs. Kathryn “Kitty” Cranford Brendle, age 82, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Brendle was born January 19, 1935 in Iredell County to Hoyle B. Cranford and Kitty Brown Cranford.
Mrs. Brendle was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkin, where she was a member of the hand bell choir and adult chancel choir. She was a past member of the Elkin Community Chorus and was an active supporter of local charities.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brendle was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Floyd Brendle and son, William Sidney Brendle.
Survivors include: son, Steven Floyd Brendle and wife Betsy of State Road; daughter-in-law, Gina W. Brendle of Elkin; sisters, Helen Farson and husband Jim of Greensboro, Alice Fisher of Winston-Salem and Jane Seaman and husband Doug of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, James Steven Brendle and wife Rachel, Jason Nicholas Brendle, Sydney Kathryn Brendle-Bates and husband John Reece and William Alexander Brendle; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Rev. Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Justin Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church.
