Mrs. Dorothy Wyatt Burchette, age 93 passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Chatham Nursing & Rehab. Mrs. Burchette was born August 16, 1924 in Wilkes County to W. Thomas Wyatt and Jane Ashley Wyatt.
Mrs. Burchette was a member of Ronda Baptist Tabernacle.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burchette was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Burchette; daughter, Patsy Stone; son, Michael Burchette; brothers, Raymond Wyatt and Aaron Wyatt; sisters, Josephine Yates and Corrine Jackson.
Survivors include: sons, James Thomas “Tommy” Burchette and wife Tommie Carol of N. Wilkesboro, Gary Steve Burchette and wife Karen of Georgia and Ronald David Burchette and wife Becky of Elkin; daughter, Judy Ann Burchette Martin and Charles Reece of Winston-Salem; brother, Onnie Wyatt of Winston-Salem; sisters, Nadine Howell of Mocksville and Mae Luffman of Jonesville; son-in-law, Benny Stone of Clemmons; grandchildren, Lori Allison Caligan, Benjamin David Stone, Samuel Jason Stone, Lara Michele Potts, Josh Burchette, Jenipher Burchette, Jacob Burchette and Cameron Cockerham; great grandchildren, William Ross, Luke Burchette, Reid Cockerham, Benjamin Stone, Eli Burchette, Jonathan Stone, and Alexandria Potts.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. David Stone officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Gideons, The Gideons International Process Center, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251 or to Mountain Valley Hospice 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
The family greatly appreciates the love and care given to Mrs. Burchette by the staff of Chatham Nursing & Rehab and Mountain Valley Hospice.
