Helen Tibbs

Mrs. Tibbs passed to her eternal life in heaven on Monday November 13, 2017. She was born in Lyndonville, NY on December 23, 1924 to Thomas and Catherine Skinner Payne.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Tibbs, and a sister Thelma Hayes.

She is survived by her daughter Teresa McDonald and husband Ken of Elkin, NC, son Terry Tibbs and wife Karen of Zephyrhills, FL. Grandchildren, Jamie Kight, Kyle McDonald, Kali McDonald Teague, Cole Tibbs, Michael Tibbs, Jared Tibbs, and Christy Tibbs Sartori, and 10 Great-Grandchildren. A brother Tom Payne of Zephyrhills, FL, and a dear niece Cathy Skinner Stokoe, along with numerous other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend Hazel Massey of Zephyrhills, FL.

Helen was a pillar of strength, and she met no strangers. Everyone who knew her, loved her. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills, a member of the Garden Club, and the Golden Girls. After 33 years of service, she retired from SunTrust Bank.

Helen will be honored at a graveside service at Oakside Cemetery on Saturday December 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm in Zephyrhills, FL.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.

Helen’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Hospice for their kind and loving care. They would also like to express a special thank you to Helen’s caregiver Ms. Ida Martin.
