Vurner Faye Garris

Mrs. Vurner Faye Garris, age 86, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017.  Mrs. Garris was born August 3, 1931 in Alleghany County to William H. Brooks and Sara L. Royal Brooks.

Mrs. Garris was a member of Zion Primitive Baptist Church and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garris was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mae Richardson and Ruth Garris.

Survivors include: sons, Roger Garris and wife Brenda of Hamptonville and Donnie Garris and wife Pat of Boonville; daughter, Shirley Royal and husband Roby of Thurmond; grandchildren, Robert Garris, Joyce Brown, Chad Garris, Amber Baliki and Ethan Royal; great-grandchildren, Zachary Brown, Sophi Baliki, Camilla Baliki and Chandler Garris.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Greg Anderson and Rev. Danny Royal officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodruff Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
