Deanna Simmons Brooks

Mrs. DeAnna Simmons Brooks, age 72, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017.  Mrs. Brooks was born August 14, 1945 in Surry County to Walter Ray and Allie Norman Simmons.

DeAnna was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and was a past president of the Thurmond Community Center.  DeAnna also loved to volunteer at Mountain Park Elementary School.

Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Dale Brooks and her sister, Kay McCoin.

Survivors include: son, Michael Charles Brooks of Charlotte; daughter, Kristi Sprinkle and husband Jonathan of Elkin; half-brother, Paul Wall of Thurmond; grandchildren, Braden Sprinkle, Whitney Sprinkle and Julia Brooks; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Simmons and Rev. John Attaway officiating.  The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
