Shirley Burchette

Mrs. Shirley Jane Burchette, age 73, of State Road, a loving mother and grandmother passed away Monday, September 11, 2017.  Mrs. Burchette was born April 28, 1944 in Surry County to the late Harvey and Dicie Casstevens Carter, Sr.

Mrs. Burchette was a faithful member of Fall Creek Baptist Church and known for her giving heart, love of gardening, cooking, but most of all her selfless and pure love to all those around her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burchette was preceded in death by her husband, David Andrew Burchette, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Teresa Burchette and grandson, Austin Tharpe.

Survivors include: sons, David A. “Andy” Burchette, Jr. and wife Judy of Jonesville and Barry Scott Burchette of Jonesville; daughter, April Grubb and husband Freddy of Elkin; brothers, Harvey Lee Carter, Jr. and wife Cathy of Jonesville and Rickey Lynn Carter and wife Brenda of Jonesville; grandchildren, Gray Collins, Dwayne Burchette, Natasha Zachary, Rikki Burgess, Joseph Tharpe, Jeffrey Durham and Richelle Burchette; 17 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many “adopted” grandchildren who affectionately called her Nanny.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday, September 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Don Hudson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Fall Creek Baptist Church, 3320 Fall Creek Church Road, Jonesville, NC 28642.
