Hubert Harris

Mr. Hubert Lee Harris, age 83, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017.  Mr. Harris was born August 29, 1934 in Surry County to Henry and Gertie Marion Harris.

Mr. Harris was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Jonesville and retired from Chatham Manufacturing.  He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by, two sisters, Lorene Harris Marsh and Dorothy Harris Barnes; and two brothers, Ray Harris and Leslie Harris.

Survivors include: son, Donny Harris and wife Wanda of Elkin; daughter, Melinda Walsh and husband David of Jonesville; brother, David Harris and wife Faye of Thurmond; sister-in-law, Linda Milan of Elkin; sister, Ruby Jean Roberts and husband Arnold of Walnut Cove; two brothers-in-law, Frank Barnes of Elkin and Junior Marsh of King; two grandchildren, Donna Harris of West Jefferson and Nathan Harris and wife Jennifer of Elkin; four great grandchildren, Mackenzie Harris, Marius Crouse, Brendan Harris and Tyler Harris.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Wesley Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Crestwood Memorial Memorial Gardens with full military honors.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church.
