Mrs. Vestie “Bessie” Reavis Harris, age 94, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Harris was born January 14, 1923 in Yadkin County to Robert Eli Reavis and Emma Clementine Wood.

Mrs. Harris was a member of White Rock United Methodist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Claude Harris and a son-in-law, Alden Gentry.

Survivors include: a son Wayne Harris and wife Patricia of Thurmond; a daughter Carol Gentry of State Road; Grandchildren Shelly Gentry of State Road, Brandon Gentry of Elkin, Justin Harris and Matthew Harris both of Thurmond; Great grandchildren Rylan and Adlen Gentry and Haystin Harris.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm, at White Rock United Methodist Church with Rev. John Taylor and Rev. Tony Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:00 pm at the church.
