Mr. Jerry B. Wagoner, age 70, of Charlie Brown Road in N. Wilkesboro, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017. Mr. Wagoner was born February 6, 1947 in Surry County to Noah Gordon and Nancy Absher Wagoner.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Oak Level Baptist Church. Jerry loved being outdoors, working in his woodshop, cars, music, gardening, flowers, mowing the lawn, grilling and spending time with his family and friends. He loved being around children, watching them learn and have fun. Jerry was always willing to help anyone, anyway he could.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by six brothers; one sister; in-laws, his father-in-law; Charlie Brown, Jr. and many close relatives.
Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Linda Brown Wagoner of the home; son, Christopher D. Wagoner and wife Emily of Millers Creek; two daughters, Jerrye Lynn Ficklin and husband Ricky of Forrest City and Pamela Nicole Billings and husband Bobby of Traphill; one brother, Gary Wagoner and wife Barbara of Roaring River; three sisters, Mary Lee Spicer and husband Von of Dobson, Linda Bauguess of Traphill, and Hilda Gaye Bauguess of Elkin; one sister-in-law, Caroleen Wagoner and husband Daniel of Traphill; his “second mama”, mother-in-law, Mrs. Sylvia Brown of N. Wilkesboro; six grandchildren, Matthew Lee Billings, Jacob W. Billings, Richard Tucker Ficklin, Lindsay Elizabeth Ficklin, Abigail Nicole Billings, and Lisa Clare Wagoner; numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom he loved.
A funeral service for Mr. Wagoner will be conducted Sunday, August 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Joshua Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Level Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Mountain View Medical Center and Ray Stone, P.A., Dr. Thomas Grote and staff, Mountain Valley Hospice and the staff of Wilkes Regional.
The family request no food, but will accept flowers or donations made to the donor’s favorite children’s charity.
