Albert Ray Stanley

Mr. Albert Ray Stanley, age 75, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017.  Mr. Stanley was born August 22, 1941 in Surry County to William Edgar and Dora Elizabeth Lash Stanley.

Mr. Stanley was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and retired from Chatham Manufacturing.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Boger and brother, Ronald Stanley.

Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Jean Stanley, of the home; a son, Chad Stanley of State Road; two daughters, Tammy Prevette and husband Dwayne of Ronda, and Paula Rice of Elkin; one brother, Roger Stanley of State Road; two grandchildren, Benjamin Prevette and William Prevette.

Mr. Stanley was a great lover of Bluegrass music.  He played the guitar, mandolin, and bass.  He played and performed with many friends in his community and beyond. He and his wife, Jean, also attended many bluegrass festivals.

Mr. Stanley was a classic car enthusiast and loved his 55 Chevy Bel Air.

A graveside service for Mr. Stanley will be conducted Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Hensley officiating.  The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
