Donald Ray Shores

Mr. Donald Ray Shores, age 56, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 29, 2017 in his home.  Donald was born December 30, 1960 in Surry County to Earlie Clifton Shores and Maudaleen Norman Shores.  He was employed with Nester Hosiery.  Donald was a loving uncle and a gentle giant and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earlie Clifton Shores; wife, Margaret Shores and brother, Ronald Shores.

Survivors include: mother, Maudaleen N. Shores of Elkin; step daughter, Amanda Hawks of Ararat, VA., sisters, Karen Jean Shores of State Road and Betsy Ford and her husband Gef of Dobson; sister-in-law, Lynn Shores  of Thurmond; nieces and nephews, Amanda Shores, Joshua and Derek Moore and Emma and Sarah Ford; great nieces and nephews, Jordan, Robbie and Porter Clark.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Terry Longworth officiating.  Burial will follow in Charity Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
