Sara Maude Donovan

Mrs. Sara “Maude” Hudspeth Donovan, age 92, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Orange County, VA.  Mrs. Donovan was born January 28, 1925 in Surry County, to Sidney Cleveland and Mary Joella Crouse Hudspeth.

Mrs. Donovan had been employed with the Washington Post where she received achievement awards for her advertising sales and customer service skills.  Maude was a member of Grace Fellowship in Arlington, Va.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Donovan was preceded in death by her husband, John William Donovan; brothers, John, Will, Dan, Alex, Sydney; and sisters, Mary and Emma.

Survivors include: son, David William Donovan of Unionville, VA; daughter, Sheila Cathey Donovan and husband Stephen of Unionville, VA; sisters, Jo Ann Pinnix of Pffafftown, NC, Helen of Charlotte, NC, Evelyn of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Tiffany Maie Rohde of Orange, VA; great-granddaughter, Meredeth Noelle Walker of Charlestown, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, the family will accept memorials to be made to Mountain Valley Hospice 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
