Edith Hager Howard

Mrs. Edith Marie Hager Howard, age 87, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 in Kingsport, TN.  She was born January 20, 1930 in Wilkes County to John and Dinah Adams Hager.

Mrs. Howard was a faithful member of Rachel Baptist Church.  She was an avid quilter, gardener, seamstress and loving caretaker.  Mrs. Howard was a life-long learner, passing along to her children the importance of education.  She had a positive attitude and outlook and was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Marie Howard and four siblings.

Survivors include: children, Jenny Whittington of Wilmington; Jerry Howard and his wife Karen of Winston-Salem; Jill Green of Spring Hope, Janet Fuller of Kingsport, TN, and Jackie Huffman and her husband Bradley of Mooresville; brother, J.W. Hager of East Bend; sister, Betty Ireland of Greensboro; grandchildren, Erica (Eric), Alisa (Cristy), Katie (Colton), Lindsay, Justin, Ryan, Megan, Brittany, Drew and Lucas and great grandchildren, Grant, Wes, Lily, Connor and Kimberly.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 3, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Rachel Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wiles officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
