Rebecca Julian

Mrs. Rebecca Sides Julian, age 75, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 peacefully at her home on the mountain in Devotion, NC, following a short illness.  Mrs. Julian was born November 21, 1941 in Forsyth County to Roscoe E. and Catherine Dorset Sides.

Rebecca attended Griffith High School and Appalachian State Teachers College, where she met and married her lifelong partner, Terry Julian.  They are proud parents of two beautiful daughters, who blessed them over the years with seven wonderful grandchildren whom she adored.  Rebecca was employed by Forsyth County Department of Social Services as a social worker for Child Support Enforcement until retirement.  She was also a co-owner of B&T Christmas Trees, a seasonal business selling fresh Frasier fir trees and handmade wreaths.  Rebecca spent time expressing her artistic talents through painting, decorating, and collecting Indian arrowheads and relics from the earth.  She loved their beach house on Oak Island, NC and enjoyed riding in the golf cart with her beloved dog, Rascal.  Good times with family were enjoyed on cruises to Mexico and the Bahamas and holidays when she cooked huge meals for everyone.  Rebecca was a member of Charity Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Julian was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Dorset Sides.

Survivors include: her devoted husband, Terry L. Julian of the home; daughters, Cathy Julian O’Doherty of Orlando, Fl., Gina Julian Kemper and husband Rich of Lithia, FL.; sisters, Dorothy sides Reynolds of Clemmons, Barbara Sides Barron of Winston-Salem; her loving father, Roscoe E. Sides of Clemmons; seven grandchildren, Mary O’Doherty, Michael O’Doherty, Megan O’Doherty, of Charlotte, NC, Christina Fulton, Amber Rhyne, Trey Rhyne of Lithia, FL, and Ashlyn Rhyne of Fort Bragg, NC.  Rebecca also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Brian Cardwell and Preacher  Terry Longworth officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

The family would like to express special thanks to Kathy Preswood for her loving care of Rebecca and help to the family during the past weeks.  She was truly a blessing to the Julian family.
