Robert Theodore Roth

Mr. Robert (Bob) Theodore Roth, age 79, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Chatham Nursing Center after a lengthy illness.  Bob was born on July 28, 1937 in Paterson, NJ to Elizabeth Hickerson Roth of Ronda and William T. Roth of Elkin.

Bob studied architecture at N.C. State College.  He also studied design in schools in Philadelphia, PA and in Atlanta, GA.  He met and married his first wife, Suzie Orme in Atlanta, Ga.  After college he was employed by General Motors in Detroit, MI.  He later moved to New York City and was a commercial photographer.

Bob is survived by daughters, Gretchen Bronstien of Santa Cruz, CA and Eleanor Roth of New York, NY; sister, Louisa Shugart of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Following his years in New York City he moved to Baltimore, MD where he met and married his second wife, Terri Bachman.

In addition to painting, furniture making and photography, Bob’s greatest enjoyment was traveling.  His love of travel was sparked by a month long train trip with the boy scouts across America when he was 15 years old.  He had many stories of the adventures the scouts had on that trip.

A memorial service for family and guests will be held at a later date.
