Edna Kitts Howell

Mrs. Edna Kitts Howell, age 67, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.  She was born February 22, 1950 in Tazwell, Virginia to Nelson and Hattie Alley Kitts.  Mrs. Howell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a member of Maple Springs United Methodist Church and the owner of Fill-in-the Gap Restaurant.  Mrs. Howell was a “people person”, loved family, gardening, cooking, watching Westerns and was an avid history buff.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Howell; brother, Richard Kitts; sisters, Nannie Sullivan, Margaret Pruett, Rosie Kitts, Victoria Able, Katherine Griffin and Jean Deskins.

Survivors include: daughters, Beth Howell Minton and her husband Jeff of Ronda, Shuley Howell of Elkin, Yeanette Martin and Robert Luffman of Ronda, Christine Howell Gambill and her husband Charles of Wilkesboro and Billie Howell and Jennifer Joy of Wilkesboro; “adopted daughter” Karen Tilley of Winston Salem; brothers, Alfred Kitts and his wife Kay and Albert Kitts and his wife Carol; special friends, Marie Harris, Susan Connor and Frances Howell; grandchildren, Shontay Minton Gregory and her husband Dustin, Stephen Gambill, Devin Gambill and Dustin Minton; great grandchildren, Raegan Mollie Ford-Minton and Alexa Gregory; and special fur babies, Buster and Chloe.

A celebration of life will be conducted Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Rex Cranfill officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

The family has requested that attendees wear bright colors to honor Mrs. Howell’s life. Memorials may be made to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Miami, Florida 33134.
