Lois C. Billings

Mrs. Lois Ethel Cothren Blackburn Billings, age 82, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017. Mrs. Billings was born December 31, 1934 in Wilkes County to Rev. Grant and Mae Warren Cothren.

Mrs. Billings was a member of Roaring Gap Baptist Church where she also taught Sunday school and played the piano and organ. Lois was retired from Sprint Telephone Company.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sonny Blackburn and brothers, Warren G. Cothren and John A. Cothren.

Survivors include: her husband, James Billings of the home; son, Ricky Blackburn and wife Cathy of Elkin; daughters, Teresa Miles and husband Mike of Hays, Amy Caveny and husband Dale of Sparta and Dawn Longbottom and husband Tracy of Hays; special friend, Dot Freeman; step-sons, Toby Billings and wife Jennifer of N. Wilkesboro and Garron Billings of Wilkesboro; step-daughter, Shannon Upchurch and husband David of Purlear; grandchildren, Brett Stike, Taylor Smith, Cameron Blackburn, Mattie Blackburn, Seth Longbottom and Ben Longbottom; step-grandchildren, Aaron Elledge, Gracie Upchurch and Cody Billings; great-grandchild, Liam Smith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Roaring Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Hackler, Rev. Russ Nixon and Rev. Richard Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
