Bob Norton

Mr. Robert M. “Bob” Norton, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends Saturday, March 18, 2017.  He was born January 6, 1946 to Betty and John Norton. Bob has been a pillar in the community serving as a Deacon at First Baptist Church, Councilman for the City of Elkin, longtime member of the Lions Club, and an avid golfer and member at Cedarbrook Country Club.  Bob’s ambitious, infectious, and hardworking nature spanned a successful business career as Sr. Vice President at Brendle’s, owner of Dollar Wise, Buyer at Hatch, and in his retirement, a much loved and requested tour bus driver. He was a beloved and loving father, grandfather and friend.  He was proceeded in death by his brother, John Norton, and leaves behind his wife Farrell, son Tim Norton, his daughter Ginny Norton and her wife Jenne Parks and his youngest daughter Caroline Ankerson and her husband Matt, grandchildren Megan Norton, Evan Buffington, Collin Buffington, Cora Ankerson, Parker Norton, Vincent Ankerson, and Olive Ankerson.  Bob meant so much to so many people that his family cannot begin to know how many his vibrant and caring personality impacted.  The family requests you join them for a memorial service Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elkin with Dr. Bill Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Elkin, 110 Gwyn Avenue, Elkin, NC 28621. The family would like to thank Dr. Bill Johnson, Betty and Carson Pittman, John Foster, Dr. Boris Pasche and the nursing staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for their care.
