Mr. Troy Lee Sparks, age 78, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at Rose Glen Manor of North Wilkesboro. Mr. Sparks was born November 5, 1938 in Yadkin County to Troy Elzie and Betty Pardue Sparks.
Mr. Sparks was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church. He retired from the NC DOT after 32 years of service.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Bonnie Sparks and Ethelene Sparks Holman.
Survivors include: his wife, Doris S. Sparks of the home; daughters, Belynda Sparks Collins and husband Danny of Jonesville and Sonya Sparks Blackburn and husband Scotty of Ronda; grandchildren, Adam Luffman and wife Sarah, Carly Collins, Angie Collins Hinshaw and husband Jeff, Kallie Blackburn and Austin Blackburn; great-grandson, Bryson Hinshaw and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther, Rev. Nathaniel Thompson and Rev. Scott Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the NC National Honor Guard and Surry VFW Post 9436 & 2019. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
