Alma Baugus Collins

Mrs. Alma Baugus Collins, age 88, passed away Friday, January 21, 2017. She was born May 10, 1928 in Surry County to Gwen and Stella Swaim Baugus.  Mrs. Collins was a member of Elkin Valley Baptist Church and worked many years for her husband’s business Joe Collins HVAC.  She had a servant’s heart being a caregiver to many family and friends. Mrs. Collins was a 2nd mother to many especially Chris Osborne and Donna Osborne Brooks. She was a gracious hostess at both her homes in Elkin and Lake Norman.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Miller Collins.

Survivors include: her daughter, Martha C. Bryant and her husband Mike of Denver; brother, Howard Baugus of Elkin; grandchildren, Bethany Bryant, Brianna Bryant and Joseph Bryant; and many special nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Blevins and Rev. Ben Rudolph officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to thank caregivers, Susan Hinson, Lara Johnson, Shelia Richardson, Stacy Webb, Joan Hinson, Teresa DeHart, Victoria Sepeda and Nancy Billings and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their care.
