Martha Billings Bray Holbrook

September 20, 1917 — January 14, 2017

Mrs. Martha Billings Bray Holbrook, age 99, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born September 20, 1917 in Wilkes County to Harrison and Dore Spicer Billings.  Mrs. Holbrook was a homemaker, farmer and a member of Billings Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Clay Holbrook; son, Marvin Oce Bray; and sisters, Eddie Adams and Ethel Holbrook.

Survivors include: son, Robert Bray of Hamptonville; daughter, Eva Anderson of N. Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Carla Goodwin of N. Wilkesboro, Jerry Bray of Elkin and Joel Bray of Hamptonville; 7 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 16, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow in Billings Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 688 N. Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for their care.
