Deloss Wood

Mr. Deloss “Papa D” Wood, age 85, passed away Saturday, January 07, 2017 at Chatham Nursing and Rehab.  Mr. Wood was born February 17, 1931 in Wilkes County to Joe and Phoebe Durham Wood.

Mr. Wood was a member of Marler Road Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army.  In addition to his parents Mr. Wood was preceded in death by two infant sons, three sisters and a brother.

Survivors include: his wife, Mable Wood of the home, four sons, Donnie Wood and wife Linda of Jonesville, Ricky Wood and wife Margaret of Elkin, Gary Wood and wife Joyce of Elkin, Danny Wood and wife Lisa of Boonville, three daughters, Joyce Vanhoy and husband Dale of East Bend, Debbie Carter and husband Darren of Elkin, Brenda Robbins and husband Gary of Elkin, five brothers, Henry Wood and wife Bonnie of Elkin, L.C. Wood of Traphill, Ransome Wood of Traphill, Bobby Wood and wife Faye of Traphill, David Lee Wood and wife Kathy of Traphill, a sister, Ruth Wood of Elkin, Twelve Grandchildren, Eighteen Great Grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, Special friends, James “Bossman” and David Holcomb.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service.
