Dewey "Junior" Cheek

Mr. Dewey “Junior” Cheek, age 87, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare. Mr. Cheek was born February 16, 1929 in Wilkes County to Adam Dewey, Sr. and Eulala Scott Cheek.

Mr. Cheek was a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and sang with Gospel 4 Quartet for 50 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Newsome Cheek; daughter, Sylvia Ann Walker and brothers, Fred Cheek and Clyde Cheek.

Survivors include: his son, Randy Cheek and wife Dawn of State Road; sisters, Joyce Callaway of State Road and Lucille Groce of State Road; grandchildren, Kayla Robertson and husband Zack, Sean Cheek and wife Megan and Adam Walker and wife Emily; great-grandchildren, Colin, Asher, Cooper, Katie, Carson and Mason.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Pastor Robbie Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
