Iva Lee Phillips

Mrs. Iva Lee Hinson Phillips, age 92, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016. Mrs. Phillips was born November 15, 1924 to the late Guy and Nettie Hinson

She was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Co. in the payroll department after 48 years and 2 months of service. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Lucy Hanes Chatham Club and the VFW Auxiliary post 7794.  She was a faithful member of Little Richmond Baptist Church and a member of the WMU as long as she was able to attend.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her late husband, Bert J. Phillips whom she married March 9, 1941; a son, James Farris Phillips; a step-grandson, Tony Williamson; and a sister, Marie Hinson White.

She is survived by one son, William “Billy” Phillips and his wife Olene of Elkin; four grandchildren, Amy (Mitchell) Wagoner of Elkin, Holly Hutchens (Micheal Wagner) of Elkin, LaDonna Hollenbeck and James Farris Phillips of Oregon; two great-granddaughters, Brittany Rogers and Courtland Wagoner; one great-grandson, Harley Hutchens; two step great-grandsons, Ian Wagoner and Tyler Wagoner; two special nieces, Pat Tilley and Carol Everidge; two very special friends, Sue Macy and Gail Sparks whom she has been Friday breakfast buddies with for over 44 years; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Richmond Baptist Church with Rev. J.V. Lowe and Rev. Alan Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
