Mr. Worth Franklin Masten, age 79, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016. Mr. Masten was born May 22, 1937 in Forsyth County to Marvin Worth and Mary Ball Masten.
Mr. Masten was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. He was the owner of Arlington Meat Processing and Masten Sugar Cured Hams. Mr. Masten was a Arlington and Jonesville Commissioner and past Chief of Arlington police department and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Richard Tulbert; mother and father-in-law, Paul and Mazie Martin and brother-in-law, Bud Byrd.
Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Polly M. Masten of the home; son, Thomas Franklin Masten and wife Kim of Hamptonville; daughters, Mary Tulbert and fiancé Avery Wooten of Union Grove and Callie Masten and fiancé Preston Burton of Huntersville; sisters, Nancy Byrd and Louise Byrd; grandchildren; Mary Ellen Tulbert, Maggie Phillips and husband Brandon, Rebecca Oliver and husband Garrett and Pierson Worth Colbert; great-grandchildren, Ryan Tulbert, Cory Phillips, Katie Phillips and Ellie Rose Phillips.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Don Hudson and Dr. Steve Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
