Bennie Gene Williams

Mr. Bennie Gene Williams, age 75, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Pruitt Healthcare. Mr. Williams was born March 17, 1941 in Iredell County to Amber Benson and Flossie Lucille Jarvis Williams.

Mr. Williams was a member of Elkin First United Methodist Church. After retiring from LP he enjoyed working at Wal-Mart as a greeter. Mr. Williams was also a freelance sports writer for the Elkin Tribune and coached several little league, pony league and Elkin softball teams.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary Lee Williams and J.D. Williams.

Survivors include: his wife Betty Ann Sloop Williams of the home; son, Brian Williams of Elkin; daughters, Alicia Williams Darnell and husband John of Clemmons and Angie Williams of Kernersville; grandchildren, Chasidy Allgood and husband Matthew, Benjamin Darnell and Jeremy Darnell.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Elkin First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Barden officiating. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
